You may use this website for personal, educational, writing, reading
and community purposes.
You must not misuse the site, deliberately interfere with its operation,
attempt unauthorised access, distribute harmful material, use it for
unlawful activity or copy substantial parts of it without permission.
Website content, tools, prompts, worksheets, guides and resources are
provided for writing support and general information. They are not
professional legal, financial, medical, psychological or publishing
advice.
You are responsible for how you use the material provided. We cannot
guarantee publication, representation, income, competition success,
improvement in writing or any other particular outcome.
We may add, update, remove or change website content, tools, resources,
events, products, prices and availability as WritersGroup develops.
Copyright and use of materials
Unless otherwise stated, material created for WritersGroup.co.uk belongs
to Protheorem Ltd or is used with permission.
You may use WritersGroup prompts, worksheets and resources for your own
personal writing practice, subject to any additional licence or terms

tool or worksheet, attending an event or Writing Room, or using the
members area does not give WritersGroup or Protheorem Ltd ownership of
your work.
Privacy policy
Information we collect and use
We may collect and store information you provide when using the website,
contacting us, creating an account, joining a mailing list or membership,
booking an event, purchasing a product, downloading a resource or
completing a form.
This may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your enquiry or message
- Booking and purchase information
- Membership and access status
-
Preferences or interests you choose to provide, such as Writing Rooms,
events, tools, resources or Portishead meetings

-
Records of relevant consent or activation actions where required
We use this information to respond to enquiries, process purchases and
bookings, administer membership, provide access to services and resources,
send transactional communications, manage events and deliver requested
updates.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or other third
parties.
How information is stored
Personal information may be stored using systems we use for customer
relationship management, forms, website activity, email, bookings,
purchases, payments, membership administration and event management.
We take reasonable measures to protect personal information against
unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the
purpose for which it was collected, or where records need to be retained
for legitimate administrative, accounting, contractual or legal reasons.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold personal information about you
- Provide a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete information where appropriate

Please use the WritersGroup contact page if you wish to make a request

Email communications
Marketing and service emails
Where you actively subscribe or otherwise consent to receive WritersGroup
updates, we may email you about writing resources, products, membership,
Writing Rooms, workshops, courses, retreats and other WritersGroup news.
Buying something, contacting us or attending an event does not by itself
mean that you have agreed to receive unrelated marketing emails where
separate marketing consent is required.
Marketing messages will normally include a way to unsubscribe. You may
also contact us and ask to stop receiving marketing communications.
Transactional and service emails, such as payment receipts, booking
confirmations, access information, membership activation messages,
renewal information or replies to enquiries, may still be sent where
necessary to provide or administer something you requested.
Shop and purchases
Buying from WritersGroup
WritersGroup may sell memberships, digital resources, printed products,
books, workbooks, event places and other writing-related products or
services.
The description, current price and any product-specific information will
be shown on the relevant shop or product page.
A purchase is not complete until the required payment has been processed
or otherwise accepted.
You are responsible for providing accurate contact and delivery
information. An incorrect email address may prevent you from receiving
confirmations, downloads, access instructions or membership information.
Digital products
Digital resources may be supplied by download, member access, online tool
access or another electronic method stated when you purchase.
Where consumer law requires specific consent before digital content or
services begin during a statutory cancellation period, we may ask you to
give that consent separately.
Physical products
Where physical products are sold, delivery information and any applicable
charges will be shown during the purchase process or on the relevant
product page.
Event booking terms
Meetings, Writing Rooms, retreats, workshops and courses
WritersGroup may list or run free and paid activities including Portishead
meetings, Bring Your Own Book sessions, Writing Rooms, Saturday Writing
Retreats, workshops, courses and other writing or reading events.
Event information such as date, time, location, format, price and
availability will normally be shown on the event or booking page.
Bookings are subject to availability. For paid events, a place is not
normally confirmed until required payment has been received and a
confirmation issued.
You are responsible for entering your contact information correctly.
Online sessions require a suitable internet connection and device. We
cannot normally accept responsibility for problems caused by your own
internet connection, device, software or failure to check access
information.
We may refuse, cancel or end participation where reasonably necessary,
including because of suspected fraud, non-payment, disruptive behaviour
or a serious breach of these terms.
Refunds and cancellations
Events, products and services
Cancellation arrangements can differ depending on what you have purchased.
Where specific cancellation or refund terms are shown for a product,
event or service, those terms also apply.
If you cannot attend an event
If you have booked a Writing Room, retreat, workshop, course or similar
activity and can no longer attend, please cancel or contact us as soon as
possible.
Refunds are not automatically available for non-attendance, late arrival
or late cancellation where no statutory right to a refund applies.
Depending on the event, a transfer may sometimes be offered where
practical.
If WritersGroup cancels
If WritersGroup cancels a paid event, we will normally offer a refund or,
where suitable, the option to transfer to another event.
Where a substantial change is made to the date, time, location or format
of a paid event, we will try to notify booked participants using the
contact details supplied.
Free events
Free activities may be changed, postponed or cancelled where necessary.
We will try to keep website information up to date.
Statutory rights
Nothing in these policies removes statutory consumer rights that apply to
a purchase.
WritersGroup Membership
Membership, access, renewal and cancellation
WritersGroup Membership is an annual membership provided by Protheorem
Ltd. Membership provides access to the benefits described on the current
WritersGroup membership page while the membership remains active.
Current benefits include or may include regular online Writing Rooms,
Premium Resources, the Daily Prompt Archive, Writing Rhythm Tracker,
monthly writing material, guided writing challenges, Agent Search,
submission and revision tools, member discounts and other developing
WritersGroup tools.
Membership features may develop over time. We may add, improve, replace
or retire particular tools, resources or features where appropriate.
Annual renewal
Membership runs for 12 months and renews annually unless cancelled before
the next renewal date.
Where you cancel after any applicable statutory cancellation period,
cancellation will normally take effect at the end of the period already
paid for. Member access continues until that date and no further annual
renewal will be taken.
Cancellation rights after purchase
Where membership is purchased online, any statutory cancellation rights
that apply to the purchase continue to apply.
If you want membership access to begin during an applicable statutory
cancellation period, WritersGroup may ask you to actively request
immediate access and acknowledge the effect this may have on your
cancellation rights before protected member access begins.
If immediate access is not requested, access may remain pending until the
applicable period has passed or another lawful activation route applies.
When membership ends
When a paid membership period ends, access to member-only parts of the
website, tools, services and resources will end.
Personal outputs or resources that you were entitled to download and have
already downloaded remain yours to retain, subject to their applicable
usage terms.
If a membership payment fails or membership otherwise lapses, member-only
access may be suspended or ended until membership is brought up to date
or renewed.
Personal membership
Membership is personal to the named member. Member login details and
protected access must not be shared with another person.
Your writing and member resources
You keep the rights to writing and project material you create while
using WritersGroup tools.
WritersGroup resources, tools, question banks, workflows, guidance,
writing packs and member-only modules remain the property of Protheorem
Ltd or their respective rights holders.
They must not be copied, resold, republished, redistributed or used to
create a competing commercial product or service.
Writing Rooms
Regular online Writing Rooms are included with active membership at no
additional charge. Advance booking is still required and places may be
limited.
If you book a Writing Room, please attend or cancel as soon as reasonably
possible if your plans change. We ask for at least 12 hours’ notice where
possible.
Repeated non-attendance without cancelling may result in temporary
suspension of the included Writing Room benefit. Other membership
benefits would continue during such a suspension.
Genuine emergencies or reasonable exceptional circumstances may be taken
into account.
Member discounts
Membership does not include every WritersGroup course, workshop, retreat
or separately priced product.
Current members receive 25% off eligible WritersGroup courses and
workshops where the member discount applies, and 50% off Saturday Writing
Retreats at the current member rate.
Accessibility
Accessibility statement
We want WritersGroup.co.uk to be clear, readable and reasonably easy to
use across desktop and mobile devices.
Accessibility work is ongoing as new pages, tools, forms, resources and
member facilities are added.
If you encounter something that is difficult to use or access, please
contact us and explain the difficulty. We will consider reasonable
improvements where practical.
If you have an accessibility question about a particular event, please
contact us before booking where possible so that we can give you relevant
practical information.
Third-party services
External services, payments and links
WritersGroup may use or link to third-party services for matters such as
CRM, email, payments, video meetings, event bookings, forms, file delivery
and other website functions.
Those services may process information in accordance with their own terms
and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices
of external websites that are not operated by Protheorem Ltd.
Changes
Updates to these policies
These policies may be updated as WritersGroup develops, legislation
changes, or new products, services, tools or membership features are
introduced.
The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
